Driving Assessments

Driving safely is good for everyone on the road. As we age or have more physical or cognitive deficits, driving a car can slowly become an issue of safety.

The Driving Assessment Includes:

  • A physical examination of range of motion, strength, coordination, and a brief cognitive screen
  • A gait (walking) examination including turns and balance
  • Ability to enter/exit the vehicle independently.
  • Ability to operate the vehicle controls
  • An on road driving examination assessing the many aspects of safe driving

The Driving Assessment Can Be Used By:

  • Physicians when deciding if a person is safe to drive
  • A family member who has a concern about another family member's ability to safely drive
  • An individual who is concerned about his/her own ability to safely drive
