DRIVING ASSESSMENT
Driving safely is good for everyone on the
road. As we age or have more physical or cognitive deficits,
driving a car can slowly become an issue of safety.
The Driving Assessment Includes:
·
A physical examination of range of motion,
strength, coordination, and a brief cognitive screen
·
A gait (walking) examination including turns and
balance
·
Ability to enter/exit the vehicle independently.
·
Ability to operate the vehicle controls
·
An on road driving examination assessing the many
aspects of safe driving
The Driving Assessment Can Be Used By:
·
Physicians when deciding if a person is safe to
drive
·
A family member who has a concern about another
family member's ability to safely drive
·
An individual who is concerned about his/her own
ability to safely drive
