VESTIBULAR THERAPY…What's that?

The vestibular system is the part of the inner ear and the brain that gives us the ability to maintain/control balance and eye movements. A problem with anyone of these systems can result in a vestibular disorder.

Common symptoms of Vestibular Disorders:

·         Dizziness        ·        Unsteadiness/Imbalance

·         Vertigo           ·        Nausea

Common Symptoms of Vestibular Disorders

·         Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (also called BPPV, BPPN, BPV)

·         Labyrinthitis (inner ear infection)

·         Head injury or concussion

What Happens During Vestibular Therapy?

The therapist will complete a thorough evaluation looking at posture, balance, eye and body movements. Based on results of the examination, a treatment plan will be designed to include specific exercises and activities designed to decrease symptoms and improve function.

How Will Therapy Help Me?

In most cases with consistent and correct exercise you should feel steadier on your feet, and have reduced symptoms of dizziness, vertigo, nausea, headaches and fatigue.
